Capturing the Dead

As a huge fan of horror movies, I’ve seen a lot. Most of the horror films I’ve watched was just full of jump scares, cliché, right? But what I love about horror films is the thrill. Also, they are enjoyable to watch. Sometimes, people are asking me what my favorite movie genre is, and I always answer them ‘horror’ and they’re like ‘are u serious?’

Why I share this? Well, I watched The Bride (Nevesta), a Russian horror film, like nth time. This is directed by Svyatoslav Podgayevskiy, year 2017. The Bride’s story goes around an old and agitating act of capturing the dead as though they were alive, with painted eyes and propped up necks. In The Bride, Nastya (Viktoriya Agalakova) is a young lady who makes a trip with her prospective spouse to his family home. Upon their appearance, she can't resist the urge to imagine that the visit may have been a repulsive misstep. She is encircled by peculiar individuals and starts seeing odd, awful dreams as his family readies her for a strange conventional Slavic wedding function.

The only scary thing that happened, was the girl agreeing to marry a guy she hardly knows. Like hello, what did you think was going to happen?

Other than that, Nevesta is a film that won't exhaust you, some way or another, and figures out how to hold the consideration until the end. It has the component of a blood and gore movie that will be enjoyed by a portion of the audience. It's a fascinating interpretation of a once upsetting and perplexing custom that shows how weird society can be. For me, as a fanatic of thriller, I'm not into this one. The most unnerving part is that I truly thought it was a good film, I literally expect more since this movie tackles about the traditional history of Russia. But yeah, I am not satisfied.
