Most of us are working to make our dream as a filmmaker come to success. Days are full of frustrations and anxiety, but there are times of pleasure.
Since when I was in Junior High School when we have an activity about filming, shooting, or photo editing, they always point fingers on me whenever the teacher asks for a leader. Of course, as new to this kind of career, I really don’t know if my works are good. There are times (most of the time actually) I doubted myself, and get really really shy when it’s time to present. I don’t even know if it’s presentable enough or what. But I’m very thankful that my friends give me high and good compliments about my works, it gives me the energy to continue, to pursue.
“Life is Storytelling” - Tim O’Brien (2003)
According to Tim O’ Brien, life is storytelling. He believes in stories, in their incredible power to keep people alive, to keep the living alive and the dead. Stories attract us, move us, and encourage us to be a far better person.
By writing stories, We are giving the people a mindset that being a filmmaker is not just a plain filmmaker but, we, the filmmakers, are opening the viewers’ minds about how society works. We are communicating through our films. The idea of creating the unthinkable always enticed me, always attracts me. A film can express anything, literally anything. I like the thought that film can be a medium of what you want to tell. It is a secondary reality that will move you emotionally and open your eyes to new ideas, exposing you to a different perspective on life. The film is like an artwork, a painting, and a drawing. It is not just an art, but full of emotions and expressions.
I want to be a director or the people behind the camera. My entire life I have been fascinated with film and commercials. I always wanted to be a cameraman before, but when the years passed by, I just felt that I wanted to make stories and be on television. And on that day, I started to dream. I started to love telling stories. I always believe the most important aspect of Movie production is a great story. So to ascertain the ideas in my head transformed into something that people can see, feel, and relate too, is amazing. Because a great story is very powerful, it can affect people’s lives, their emotions, and even inspire them. Besides, I love the process of filmmaking. All of it from crafting the story, to the post-production editing, I love every step it offers and to see it finally done and people can see, appreciate, even inspired by it, I think it’s the most amazing feeling in the world. It feels great to see your work appreciated by everybody.
This one is a great short film that we directed. I am very proud of this one because this is not just a short film, but this is a product of teamwork.
